Hello 29.

For the first time in six years, I’m home for my birthday. I remember at a pub in London, one of my friends asked, "What are your goals for your [insert age+1] year of life?" In this case, my 30th year of life.

I was confused by the number (clever) and also caught off guard because she was right - great question.

So this year, what are my goals for my 30th year of life? What have I learned? Well, before I enter a new decade next year…

Let’s start with a few takeaways.

Home is anywhere you make it to be. Foremost, it’s within yourself. And from there, it’s within your people. And as for a place, you can make home anywhere.

I have so much to learn. And each day I learn something new, regardless of a day’s events (or non-events), can be a good day.

Focusing on what you have (aka gratitude) will take you miles.

As for goals?

Trust in my gut and instinct. Not too much thought, not too much emotion - that happy medium spot.

Get in touch with my soul, with presence, with the present. Too much busy is just that - a distraction to what really matters.

Keep striving to work toward purpose and the most that I can give to this world and this one life, body, time that I have.

And if there’s one thing I know for sure…

You never know where you’ll be or where you’ll end up or what experiences may come your way. Don’t get too caught up in the minuscule. Soak it all in, the good and the bad, and come out the better for it. And it’s ok - you’re never going to know everything.

Cheers to 29.
