Reminders from Yee Peng
While I was in Thailand last November with a good friend, we had gone to Yee Peng (the lantern festival) to not just witness a beautiful sight but to stand among others and lift up anything that no longer served us. People came from around the globe letting go of any negativity from the previous year with wishes for good fortune in the next.
For me, it was lifting up:
Thank you to these awesome humans for lending us their lighter. Otherwise, that would've been awkward trying to get these up in the air...
For things like this, you really gotta go with your gut. And looking back at this almost a year later, it's always better said than done. I constantly find myself going back and forth at times, being hard on myself for falling short, for not living up to my own standards.
Then I'm reminded.
To be kind. To be kind to yourself, to be kind to others. Because no one is perfect. Everyone has their own story, their own set of struggles, their own set of circumstances, processes, and accomplishments.
Going into this new month, new school year for some, and soon to be new season, let's remember to be kind. To spread the love, to support one another. And to keep getting yourself back up when you slip up because it won't always be smooth sailing. But yanno what, you’re still sailing and sometimes, that’s enough.
