Where’d You Go Bernadette by Maria Semple

Once an architectural hit in Los Angeles, Bernadette finds herself in Seattle and out of her element in more ways than she imagined. Attempting to navigate her new terrain while regaining her artistry, Bernadette suddenly disappears while her daughter Bee compiles emails, official documents, and secret correspondence in an attempt to find her mother.

I always try to read a novel before watching a movie based on it and it has yet to disappoint. This was a page turner for any season with a solid movie rendition as a plus.

Favorite takeaways:

Your life is on you.

"The sooner you learn it’s on you to make life interesting, the better off you’ll be."

When you feel all the feels despite the lack of certainty.

"Maybe that’s what religion is, hurling yourself off a cliff and trusting that something bigger will take care of you and carry you to the right place. I don’t know if it’s possible to feel everything all at once, so much that you think you’re going to burst."
